Alaina and Alexa

As promised here is the next installment of the blog! This session was for Alaina and Alexa. These two little angels are the children of Amy and Sean. I have been photographing their family for a couple of years now. The day we chose to shoot was a wonderful Pittsburgh day, snowy and cold. lol. But that did not stop Amy and Sean from stopping by the studio. It was worth the trek in, we got some fun and great shots of the girls! First up was Alaina. I have had some great shots with this little girl over the years. They have been fun and challenging; anything from blowing bubbles and having a tea party in the park, to running around the Rose Garden, our shoots are never boring! But due to the winter weather we did some inside studio work this time.
This was the first portrait session for Alexa, and just like with her big sister we got some really great shots. Alexa was such a good model. We ended up with about 30 mins of shooting time, and for a newborn that is awesome! The photos below are some of my favorite shots from the day.

And finally we attempted to get both girls together in a photo. It turned out to be a little harder than expected. By now, Alexa had had enough of being photographed. LOL. I still, however, used this moment to get some cool shots.  I loved the way Alaina comforted and cared for Alexa during these few shots.

So after it was all said and done we broke up the session into two parts. Amy, Sean and the girls ended up coming back a week later so we could get a few more shots of the girls together. I think it was worth it. We photographed for about 30 minutes and finally got some shots of the girls, happy to be together!!
Loving sisters, friends forever. Sometimes, a picture really does say more than a thousand words.   Great ending to our photo session!

Jack's First Portrait Session!

Hey Everyone! I will try to stay updated on this blog as much as possible this year. With that being said I would like my first post of the year dedicated to a newborn session. I had the honor to photograph Jack for his first ever portrait session. Jack is the son of Lauren and Ryan whose wedding Aaron and I photographed, and now they are blessed with this little guy! All I have to say is Jack was a pleasure to photograph! He stayed awake for the whole session and did not cry one little bit, not even a fuss. I know how great that is; as a dad of two children, I have been there before. Ok enough about me, let's get to the photos!

I love this photograph. The way Jack just gave me that look was awesome! It almost seems if he is just trying to give me that smile.

I really love the way the above photos turned out. I, however, cannot take all the credit. I had some help from Lauren.. She had her own ideas and props. I think the basin and the blanket were great additions to the shoot. I had brought my own props too, but I felt it was more personal to Lauren and Ryan to use the items she bought. Not only were they great items but they are also a keepsake for them to cherish. I know a lot of photographers that don't like when their clients have ideas, they mostly like to use their style. I, however, love to work with my clients to give them the photographs they would like, especially something like the first photo shoot of their child.

When I edit my clients work I like to use a variety of different filters. I really feel that certain shades work better with different photos. All the photos of the hands and feet have a totally different feel to them thru Black and White. In the photos below i used a combination of soft light and various techniques to capture Jack's awesome personality - he is such a cool little guy.

Thank you again, Jack, for the beautiful pictures! I look forward to our next session. :)
